My name is Emily, and I first learned about midwives and homebirth when my two youngest siblings were born at home more than 30 years ago. I knew for sure I wanted to become a midwife after the home vbac of my second child. I saw a midwife throughout my first pregnancy, but a series of unfortunate events saw my first born via C-section in the hospital without even a chance for me to labor. Even though my C-section was uncomplicated and my baby was fine, my homebirths were miles and away better than my hospital birth.
I knew almost immediately that midwifery was my calling. I started apprenticing with the midwife who caught my second and third babies and I never looked back. I love my job, I love serving women, I love the family-centric care I can provide, and I love normalizing birth for this generation and for the next.
In my spare time, I love to read and listen to audio books, knit baby hats, hone my pastry-baking skills, spend time with my baby-adult kids and go for long drives in the mountains with my husband.
