My name is Emily, and I first learned about midwives and homebirth when my two youngest siblings were born at home. I knew for sure I wanted to become a midwife after the home vbac of my second child. I saw a midwife throughout my first pregnancy, but a series of unfortunate events saw my first born via C-section in the hospital without even a chance for me to labor. Even though my C-section was uncomplicated and my baby was fine, my homebirth was miles and away better than my hospital birth.
I knew almost immediately that midwifery was my calling. I started apprenticing with the midwife who caught my second and third babies and I never looked back. I love my job, I love serving women, I love the family-centric care I can provide, and I love normalizing birth for this generation and for the next.
