My name is Amanda Smith, and my journey in birth work began while supporting my sister during labor and delivery in 2012. Attending the birth of my niece ignited a passion in me, and I knew that God was calling me to serve families during their childbearing years. In 2014, I became a DONA Certified Birth Doula and spent the next several years providing labor support, teaching childbirth education classes, and hosting support groups for new and expecting mothers in my home state of Mississippi.
After moving to Colorado Springs in 2016, I had the great privilege of assisting a few Certified Professional Midwives at home births. I was completely in awe of the competent, compassionate, family-centered care these midwives provided, and I knew for certain that I wanted to become a CPM and move back to Mississippi to practice. In 2017, I began the certification process with the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM), and I have been working through Midwife To Be’s Academic Program. I feel so blessed to have been in an Apprenticeship with Jennifer Green, CPM since 2018. I’m looking forward to completing all of the NARM requirements, so that I can become a Certified Professional Midwife and provide care to families in Mississippi.
I have been married to my husband Jason for 16 years, and I homeschool our five children.
